As a Texan, I feel I have to educate you on panhandles. The Texas/Oklahoma panhandle is the place where the tall part of Texas sticks up into the “handle” part of Oklahoma. Oklahoma looks like a pot with a handle sticking out to the west. Both Texas and Oklahoma call that area their panhandle. This is the dustbowl area from the great depression. You can read all about it in the great novel, The Grapes of Wrath. Florida has a part that sticks out to the west and they also call it a panhandle, even though Florida is not shaped like a pan. Hope this helps you understand our strange fixation with panhandles here in the States. Have a Blessed week mate.
